The Devil HATES Future Missionaries

When I was first waiting for my call everyone kept telling me that as soon as I got it the Devil was gonna come at me with all the fire he's got down in hell. I listened but didn't really believe them. Well after I opened my call I was super excited!!! ... Then I spent 3 1/2 hours waiting in line for my passport. That's a lot of thinking time. Well I started getting these thoughts in my mind. Things to create worry, fears and doubts. "Is this what I'm suppose to be doing?" "Am I giving up my chance to meet Mr. Right?" "Will I be able to learn the language?" "Will something go wrong while I'm there?" "WHAT IF I DIE?" All of these thoughts have gone through my mind. Because the devil knows how to get to me.
BUT That doesn't mean that I let him. In moments when the thought was small id say a quick prayer. Sometimes though I'd be in tears wondering if it's right. But as soon as I knelt down and prayed a gentle peace came over me. I know what I'm doing is right. I can't wait to get out in the field! I'm sending Satan back down where he belongs. He isn't getting this future missionary!!!

  1. I love your blog Cassie! I am so excited for your mission - you are going to be amazing and touch the lives of so many! I so agree with you on the adversaries intent to prevent you from going on a mission. He always works overtime on those committing to spread the gospel message. It reminded me of the story of Elisha:"The ancient prophet Elisha understood peace and tumult. When he and his young servant arose early and went forth, “an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do?” (2 Kings 6:15). Can’t you just see the servant thinking, This is not good. Two of us, so many of them? Elisha responded with calm: “Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them” (2 Kings 6:16). And then he asked that the Lord open the young man’s eyes that “he may see. And the Lord opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha” (2 Kings 6:17). So it is with us. As members of the Church of Jesus Christ, we gather in wards, stakes, and districts around the world, and we are promised, “My Spirit shall be in your hearts, and mine angels round about you, to bear you up” (D&C 84:88). With testimony of the Lord and His ways come peace.

You are surrounded by angels Cassie who are anxious to protect you, give you peace and support you in your mission call in ways that we can't even imagine. You have made the decision to serve the Lord in the most important of callings - when Christ said "come follow me and I will make you fishers of men" - you said I will - that is powerful and amazing and so inspiring to me! I love you and admire you Cassie for having such courage, strength and a steadfast desire to serve God. As the Apostle Paul said, “The peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:7).
